British New Testament Conference
A few weeks ago, Mike attended and presented a paper at the British New Testament Conference in Aberdeen. The title of his paper was “Isotheoi Timai and the Worship of Jesus”….yeah, you’ll have to ask him. I did get to read the paper and hear him practice it a few times before he presented it….I wish I could have been there to cheer him on, but I know he did a fantastic job. He did take the camera with him….but he rarely remembers to take pictures. So I got a shot of him in his suit when he returned. Isn’t he handsome?!

Durham
For my birthday this past December Mike offered to take me away for a weekend somewhere close enough that it’s easy to get to for a weekend getaway, but far enough away that it feels like it’s ‘away’! My options were North Berwick, Aberdeen or Durham….and after much thought and consideration, I chose Durham, England. For a while, I couldn’t find anyone to swap shifts with me at work, so it wasn’t until April that we were actually able to go. We had the most lovely time!
We stayed the first night in New Castle, which is a place we’ve heard a lot about, but had never been to. It’s kind of known for it’s shopping and hen and stag parties….we went for the shopping! Like I said, we only stayed one night, but in that time, we went to their excellent shopping centers and saw a movie….just piddled around and had fun.
The next day we took the train the rest of the way to Durham. When we got to the hotel we were quite surprised by such lovely accommodations! Turns out that the hotel is only 6 months old, hence getting such a great rate for such a lovely place! Throughout the weekend we took books to coffee shops, went to the gorgeous cathedral, I enjoyed a spa day on some birthday money, Mike’s Starbucks co-workers treated us to a dinner and we just generally enjoyed some nice down time together!
Here are some pictures of our time there! I’m thankful to my honey for thinking of such a thoughtful gift….I love you!
