More Words from Ecclesiastes
Ecclesiastes 2:24, 25
“A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?”
Chapter 3: 1-8
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.”
A Lesson From Ecclesiastes
Hello all! I was challenged today in my devotional time with a good question and thought I’d ask it of you. It’s good to take an introspective look every once in a while and the question that was presented is this…..do you try to get to a place of satisfaction in your life or do you try to find satisfaction in the midst of your life? There’s a subtle difference and I was challenged by the thought of it. The writer urged the reader to answer that question honestly by writing the story of your life as you would like to see it develop from this point onward. He gave a 500 word limit. I did it this morning and am passing the challenge on to you if you’re up for it. It allows us to be intentional about how we live and how we respond to the events, people, work….you name it, in our lives.
The context for the question comes from the 2nd chapter of Ecclesiastes (not a very uplifting book, but a candid one!).
Hope you are each doing well and that you can contemplate where your satisfaction comes from today.
Love you-Trudy
