Introducing Henry Paul Naylor!

November 8, 2009 at 5:31 pm (Baby, News, Pictures)

Hi friends and family! We are so excited to introduce you to our little guy, Henry Paul Naylor!! He was born Monday, November 2nd at 10.57 am. He weighed 7 lbs. 9.5 oz. and was 20 inches long. We’re adjusting well to life at home. We were in the hospital until Thursday night. As I type I’m thinking about last week this time….my water had just broken and we had no idea the journey that we were in for at the hospital. God is so very good and we are so very fortunate and blessed. Enjoy this picture of our guy and if you’re in the UK, stop by for a visit! If you’re not in the UK, we look forward to introducing Henry to you in person at our earliest convenience! You will absolutely fall in love with him!

Welcome to week 38, friends! (Although, while I’m typing this, I’m actually at week 39….baby’s due a week from today!). At 38 weeks baby is 3.2kg or 7.5 pounds and 51 cm, 20 inches. This week the baby is shedding his protective layer of “stuff” (I won’t bore you or gross you out with details) and getting ready to meet the world!

A Shower from Illinois!

October 27, 2009 at 3:08 pm (Baby, Pictures)

We are blessed beyond words, people. Last week we were THRILLED and so SURPRISED to get a shower in a box from our dear friends at Harvard Avenue Evangelical Free Church in Villa Park, Illinois! What a massively fun time we had! They thought of it all! They included a tablecloth, balloons, banners, after dinner mints and chocolate covered pretzels….all of the things you’d have at a baby shower! We laid it all out on the table and let ourselves have a party! So many people were so thoughtful and giving! We cannot believe that after being gone for over 2 years now that we still feel like a part of this family and still feel so incredibly loved and supported by them! You guys were unbelievable in this! Thank you SO SO much for all of the gifts, the debit cards, the cards with thoughtful words and prayers….and just for being you! We love you and miss you like you wouldn’t believe. Here is the album of pictures that we took. We wish we could be with you all in person to give hugs (you know, I’m a hugger!) but please just accept our heartfelt thanks and gratitude. We cannot WAIT to introduce the little man to you!

Week 37!!

October 17, 2009 at 6:10 am (Baby, Pictures)

We are full term, people! How exciting! Baby continues to gain his usual half pound a week and yes, I’m feeling that more and more. I’ve enjoyed a wonderfully healthy and happy pregnancy, but yes, I am starting to have some trouble sleeping at night (breathing, really) and then it’s a chore to kind of get around gracefully these days as well. But we’re just so anxious to meet the little guy that all of those little discomforts are the smallest price to pay! Around this time, baby continues to practice inhaling and exhaling, sucking his thumb, blinking and pivoting from side to side. He is, thankfully, in a head down position…so we’re nearly ready for launch! We’ll keep you posted!

Week 36!!

October 7, 2009 at 2:54 pm (Baby, Pictures)

Here we are at week 36! This is the first week of the 9th month…so he could come any time now, though we’re not getting our hopes up. We know that he’ll come when he’s good and ready! This week he should weigh about 2.7 kg (just under 6 pounds) and be another cm longer, making him 51 cm, 20 inches.

Week 35!!

October 7, 2009 at 2:49 pm (Baby)

This is the final week of month 8…headed into the 9th month next week! He’s still about 50 cm, just under 20 inches and will continue to gain about 226g per week…yikes….so he’s about 2.5kg this week (5.5 pounds). I know that this is a good weight for this time frame of pregnancy, but it’s hard to think about him getting much bigger. This week he’s working on brain cells…keep workin’ little fella! He is in the head down position so though we’re not ready for take off just yet, he is getting in the right position to head toward the light!

Week 34!!

October 7, 2009 at 2:48 pm (Baby, Pictures)

So here we are at week 34. Baby should be about 50 cm longs and roughly 2.2kg (almost 20 inches and just under 5 pounds). Since our baby is a boy baby, he’s working on his male parts this week…nuff said there.

Week 33!!

September 19, 2009 at 9:50 am (Baby, Pictures)

Baby is now gaining nearly 226g a week (nearly half a pound)! Goodness…..the belly’s gonna get bigger?! Help! He’ll be just over 2kg now (about 4.5 pounds) and during this week alone it’s possible that he grew 2.5cm. Again, he could double his weight by the time we go into delivery…help me, Lord! Antibodies are also being passed on from me to the little guy so his little immune system gets more and more prepared for this cold, harsh world of germs and diseases! This is what we look like this week.

Week 32!!

September 19, 2009 at 9:06 am (Baby, Pictures)

Hello all! Welcome to the picture from week 32! I’m a little bit behind on my blogging here. In reality I’m at week 34….so keep checkin’ the pics, there’s more to come! During week 32 we began our 8th month of pregnancy. The baby was weighing in at 1.8 kg (just under 4 pounds) and was about 48 cm long (just under 19 inches). He’s busy practicing away in there….swallowing, breathing, kicking, all kinds of wonderful stuff. He’s also working on his skin tone….instead of being see through, he’s meant to have opaque skin now…like us! Way to go, little guy, you’re working hard and Mommy’s proud of you!

Daddy @ Week 31

September 16, 2009 at 4:47 pm (Baby, Pictures)

So I must make an apology. This post has out of nowhere become all about me and baby….and you guys, of course, want to know how Daddy is too. We will not be doing week to week shots of Daddy, but as requested by our friends, the Gurney’s, we are posting a picture of what Daddy looked like at week 31……Mike is doing really well and is really excited about being a Dad. He talks to his son from time to time and gets him all worked up before Mommy heads to bed. He’s working hard on his CV now for applying for some teaching posts and has just recently finished writing an article and presenting a paper at the British New Testament Conference in Aberdeen (pics to follow soon). He’s also working 20 hours a week at Starbucks as a shift supervisor and is really enjoying the team that he’s working with….so Daddy is a busy beaver…and still manages to look this good!
