Maryland Baby Shower
We were so blessed while in Maryland to be surprised with a baby shower. We went to my brother and sister in law’s house for what we thought was just a last family meal before we left to head to Iowa, but upon arrival I started seeing friends and family come out of the house…..it didn’t really sink in until my nieces explained to me that this was a shower for me and the baby! How wonderful and unexpected!
What made it even more special is that my brother and his wife who hosted the evening had only been in their new house for a week and did so much preparation to make the evening just so enjoyable. They are hard workers and troupers to pull this off without a hitch. You guys were so cool about having everyone over…thank you so much!
It was just wonderful to be surrounded by friends and family. We really didn’t think we’d get to see any of the attendees were it not for this shower…so that was really amazing that they all made the effort to come. We are blessed.

Summer 2009 USA Visit!
Here are some pictures from our time in the states. Maryland shots are first followed by pictures from our time in Iowa.
I will have some other baby shower pictures to post in a bit, but here is a sample for now of all that we were able to do.
We were in Maryland from July 2nd to the 14th and then flew to Iowa on the 14th and left on the 25th arriving back in Edinburgh on the 26th. It was a nice long visit because we’re anticipating that it’ll be the last visit before moving back to the states next summer.
Thankfully, we’re still planning to see some family when the baby arrives, but they’ll be coming this way. So we took advantage of our time while home and saw lots of people, ate lots of food and enjoyed a wonderful time!
Hope you enjoy!

Happy Trails….
Hello all! I’m so sorry to not have been blogging recently. We’ve been enjoying some nice family time in Maryland and Iowa and it’s been tough to find time to sit and write to you! Pictures, of course, will follow, but we’ll wait until we’re back in Edinburgh to use Picasa on our laptop since others don’t have it downloaded on their computers. We have had a lovely time with family. From July 2nd-14th we were with my family in Maryland (and vacationing all together in Delaware). We finally got to meet our newest nephew Ezekiel Benjamin who is 5 months old and ADORABLE!! He’s such a cute little guy! We got to sit in the sun and read books and play games with family…and eat crabs! It was divine! I was totally surprised by a baby shower in Maryland and just felt so loved and honored by all who attended. I couldn’t believe that I was able to see all of those aunts and cousins that I wasn’t expecting to be able to see! We had such a nice time.
And since the 14th we’ve been in Iowa with Mike’s family. Last night we went to an I-Cubs game and we’ve been enjoying some nice down time here with them. We’ve roasted marshmallows on Carol’s new fire pit and us gals will get to go to tea today. Carol’s friends also hosted a lovely baby shower for us and it was so much fun to feel supported by these ladies who hardly know me….they know Mike and they love me as an extension of him, which is just really sweet!
During this trip, we’ve unveiled the sex of our child to our families (as we wanted to be in person with them to share that news since we weren’t able to share in person that we’re pregnant) and we’ll be glad to pass that info along to any who are interested in person upon return to Edinburgh. It’s been fun to share that with family as well!
We hope you are each doing well and are enjoying your July! I hope it’s not too dreary in Edinburgh. I’m kinda getting used to this nicer weather here!
See you all soon!
Week 22!
So we’ve reached week 22 and got to hear the heartbeat again this week! It’s sounds like music to my hears and makes my own heart leap for joy! At week 22 the baby is the size of a small doll…my own little doll! The senses are continually developing….touch, sight, hearing and taste! Go, baby, go! The baby can perceive light. If you were to take a flashlight to my tummy the baby would turn and move the other way….crazy! Here’s what we look like.

We’ll miss you, Crowe’s!
So many of you have heard me talk about the “Hot Wives club” that I’m part of. It’s made up of 4 of us gals who share similar lives of supporting our husbands for the moment while they pursue their master’s and phds. Cheryl and Brandon will be leaving to move back to the states while we’re just visiting the states, but I wanted to post some pictures of our final time together with them. Thank you, Cheryl, for the fun chats and all the nights when we were able to just chill and share experiences together. You will be greatly missed and we do pray God’s best for you as you and Brandon and the Charlie-man head to Philly. We love you.

Bangers and Mash!
I’ve eaten this dish a few times since being here, but hadn’t made it yet. It’s a traditional dish called “bangers n mash”, which simply put is sausages and mashed potatoes. It was REALLY yummy! And this is what it looks like. I’ll make it for you if you come visit us.

Week 21
I’m glad to say that we’ve made it to week 21 now! At this point we were able to go to the doctor for our final scan before the baby is born. The doctor will still monitor the baby’s heart, but we won’t see it again until it’s in our arms! This week the baby continues to practice swallowing and is therefore ‘eating’ and tasting more of everything that I am….so we’re trying to put yummy things into my mouth. Healthy fruits and veggies….and in the coming week, I will put fantastic crabs onto the baby’s pallet so it knows just how wonderful Maryland crabs are!
The arms and legs are finally in proportion with the rest of the body and the neurons are connected between the brain and the muscles. Cartilage throughout the baby’s body is turning into bone…allowing me to feel it more when it’s snuggling for a cozy spot. This is so fun!
