Mike’s Starbuck’s Meeting

Mike's Starbucks Meeting

It may not look like it, but yes, this was a meeting. (a 6.5 hour long meeting, but who’s counting?!) Their team went out for a group building activity around the city. They were paired up and, without taking public transportation, were involved in a scavenger hunt of which Mike and his partner won! Here are a few shots of their victory!

Afternoon Tea

Tea with Ashli

Ashli’s husband, Matt, was gone for the weekend and so she let me steal a little bit of her time. We enjoyed a day visiting Mary King’s Close, shared some fruit and juice at Starbucks (with a brief visit to Mike while he worked) and then went on to a LOVELY afternoon tea at the Howard Hotel…my preferred afternoon tea spot! I just love relaxing with a girlfriend and chatting over your favorite cuppa. It’s so nice! Thanks for sharing that special time with me, Ash!

My First Mother’s Day

May 21, 2009 at 9:43 am (Baby, Holidays, Pictures)

Mother's Day

This is technically my first set of flowers for Mother’s Day. Though baby is not here yet, we believe that we’re parents….and since the end of March (I guess technically the end of January or beginning of February), when we found out that there was a little one in there….we will never NOT be parents. And thus, we celebrate Mother’s Day. So my honey thoughtfully got me these beautiful flowers, which continue to bloom in my kitchen.

Baking with Katie

May 21, 2009 at 9:39 am (Friends in Scotland, Pictures)

This is my friend, Katie Witherspoon. She and I love to get together and make things. The first time we got together to ‘pimp’ a snack. Before you judge me for using such harsh terminology….please see their site. www.pimpthatsnack.com. It was a fun day…..but poor Katie didn’t get the concept that protein bars are NOT a snack! I wanted to make something wonderful….a huge snickers bar or peanut butter cup or some such thing.

Anyway, the picture below is from a time when she came over to learn my chicken with mushroom recipe…it’s in a lovely white wine/cream sauce….yum! We also decided to make a few desserts. We made a plates blackberry and apple pie and also a blackberry tart that I love to make! She is such a good friend and we have loads of fun together!

Week 16

Week 16

I’m sorry to have not been adding these updates as we’ve gone along. We’re going to try to do better at that. I still don’t look pregnant….but trust me, I am! My friend, Katie, and I went out to get my first maternity tops this past weekend….it was so much fun! I even tried on a belly in a store…that made me jump a few months ahead!

I’m still not eating tons, but am slowly getting my appetite back and generally am feeling really good!

Baby got it’s first book just yesterday from my parents….so sweet. I read it to him/her this morning…kind of brings a tear to the eye. It’s all just so surreal!

Let the pregnant pictures begin!

May 6, 2009 at 7:37 pm (Baby, Pictures)

We’ll try to update weekly so you can see the progress. Again, at this point, I don’t really quite look pregnant (I don’t think), but I’m feeling like I’m getting bigger bit by bit. This shot is of week 12….3 months!

Durham

May 6, 2009 at 7:30 pm (Pictures, Trips)

For my birthday this past December Mike offered to take me away for a weekend somewhere close enough that it’s easy to get to for a weekend getaway, but far enough away that it feels like it’s ‘away’! My options were North Berwick, Aberdeen or Durham….and after much thought and consideration, I chose Durham, England. For a while, I couldn’t find anyone to swap shifts with me at work, so it wasn’t until April that we were actually able to go. We had the most lovely time!

We stayed the first night in New Castle, which is a place we’ve heard a lot about, but had never been to. It’s kind of known for it’s shopping and hen and stag parties….we went for the shopping! Like I said, we only stayed one night, but in that time, we went to their excellent shopping centers and saw a movie….just piddled around and had fun.

The next day we took the train the rest of the way to Durham. When we got to the hotel we were quite surprised by such lovely accommodations! Turns out that the hotel is only 6 months old, hence getting such a great rate for such a lovely place! Throughout the weekend we took books to coffee shops, went to the gorgeous cathedral, I enjoyed a spa day on some birthday money, Mike’s Starbucks co-workers treated us to a dinner and we just generally enjoyed some nice down time together!

Here are some pictures of our time there! I’m thankful to my honey for thinking of such a thoughtful gift….I love you!
