The Red Cups Are Coming…..
This is what is happening in our lives at the moment. The Red Cups of Starbucks are being anticipated in our field of employment! We just had a meeting tonight to talk about our new Christmas drinks and snacks. The theme of the season….”Pass the Cheer”, which we are always trying to do!
I cannot believe that November begins this coming week….what insanity! Time sure flies when you move to a new country.
I’m thankful to God for the new friends that we’ve been making. Katie and Derek are a couple that we have gotten to know recently. They are a great couple from Vancouver (and Oregon). Derek goes to school with Mike and they invited us to dinner a few weeks ago and we have been getting to know them since. It’s great to have someone to connect with here. Thus far, Katie and I have gone to coffee, and starting this week, we’re meeting together with two other gals and will hopefully be able to just have each other to share life’s experiences with! Praise God for the people He places in our lives at the best times!
Mike’s advisor for his thesis invited the new phd students and their spouses over for dinner the other night and it was nice to reconnect with some of these ladies that I had previously met.
Mike is doing well. He’s enjoying his school routine and met with professor hurtado today to discuss his topic option further. They are together continually narrowing down their ideas, so we’ll see where this all leads.
Okay, I believe that’s all for now. I apologize that it’s taken so long to update you on anything. I’ll try to be better at this!
It’s been a while
Hello to all of you faithful blog readers! It’s been a few weeks since we’ve updated you simply because there’s not a whole lot to update on. Starbucks continues to keep our lives interesting. Since I last wrote, a woman had a seizure in the store to which I had to place the emergency call which was a bit traumatic being in a new country and just hoping that I was communicating everything in the right way. Everything was fine and the woman came into the store two days later to thank us for our help. Praise God that she is okay.
Also, you may remember my angry Starbucks customer. Well, he’s not allowing this issue to drop. He called just this past Saturday to make a complaint to upper management and so we’re dealing with that now. I cannot believe it has gotten to be this big of an issue.
Other than that, life carries on as usual. I’m trying all kinds of fun and new recipes and am enjoying that and Mike is enjoying his classes. He discovered that he won’t need to be taking French after all so he’s really excited about that! Today, he’ll begin playing basketball with his other phd biblical study buddies….cute, isn’t it?! He’s anxious to get to know them outside of the classroom.
Email and let us know how you all are doing! We love and miss you!
